hffhandbookThis report by The Food Trust and The Reinvestment Fund is intended to be a resource for advocates at public health and community and economic development organizations working to increase the availability of nutritious foods and revitalize their neighborhoods.

This handbook is informed by more than 20 years of experience working to support healthier food in communities and is the result of more than 10 years of advocacy work focused on promoting state and local policy change that encourages food retail in underserved regions. It provides a roadmap of the advocacy and implementation processes.

Throughout this report, case studies underscore the importance of committed leadership from diverse sectors and highlight what communities can achieve when there is a shared goal of making healthy, affordable food available to people who really need it.
